Wilderness Medicine Course Syllabus and Online Pre-test: 6 hours
- Each topic will have key objectives, definitions, mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment in addition to focusing on the course themes of prevention, preparation and improvisation.
- There will be a 30 question pre-test to be completed by participants, prior to arriving in Chile.
Wilderness Medicine Course Daily Lectures: 19 total hours
- PowerPoint presentations will take place either in morning or evening and will last approximately 30-40 minutes.
Wilderness Medicine Course Daily Simulation: 7 total hours
- Participants will be asked to think outside the box & adapt their wilderness medical skills in unique outdoor scenarios. Adaptation & improvisation by the participants will be encouraged.
- Each simulation should last approximately 1 hour.
Multiple choice test: 1 hour
- 60 question post-test for CME credit.
Experience essay: 1 hour
- Participants will be asked to write a reflection on their experience in addition to providing formal feedback on the course and the lecturers.
